Inizio con alcune notizie riguardanti il bassista della TCB Band, Jerry Scheff
Jerry Scheff e' nato e cresciuto a San Francisco Bay Area il 31 Gennaio 1941.
Inizio' a suonare giovanissimo, a soli 15 anni nei jazz club della Bay Area.
Dopo il servizio militare nella marina statunitense tornò in California, dove comincio' la sua attivita' come " session musician " (musicista professionista chiamato a partecipare a sedute di registrazione ).
Jerry si uni' anche a suonare con il chitarrista jazz Barney Kessel a Los Angeles. Dopo aver debuttato come bassista jazz, decise di passare alla musica pop \ rock della scena di Los Angeles. Dopo aver collaborato con il vocal group The Association per la celebre hit "Along Comes Mary" (1966), aumentarono le richieste di collaborazione con altri artisti. Negli anni successivi lavorò con gli Everly Brothers, Nancy Sinatra, Johnny Rivers, Neil Diamonds, Sammy Davis Jr. , Johnny mathis, Pat Boone, Dion Warwick, Barbara Streisand, Linda Ronstadt, Bette Midler, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Leonard Nimoy e persino con i Muppets! .
Dalla meta' di Luglio del 1969 divenne un membro della tour band di Elvis Presley, la TCB Band insieme a James Burton ( chitarra solista ), Larry Muhoberac (piano), Ronnie Tutt (batteria) e John Wilkinson (chitarra ritmica).
Jerry inoltre, suono' le parti di basso nelle canzoni dell' album " L.A. Woman " dei Doors nel 1971 dando il suo grandissimo contributo alla famosa hit " Riders On The Storm "
Sebbene inizialmente ammise di non essere un vero e proprio fan di Elvis Presley, la grandezza e la professionalita' di Elvis lo convinsero tanto che continuo' a lavorare con lui fino alla sua morte nel 1977.
Successivamente ha lavorato con Bob Dylan per il famosissimo album "Street Legal" (1978), oltre a partecipare a session work con Johnny Cash a Richard Thompson. Durante gli anni '80 e '90, fu in tour con Elvis Costello, Sam Phillips e John Denver. Jerry partecipo' insieme a Roy Orbison ed altri artisti al concerto per la tv " A Black and White Night " (1987).
Scheff ha anche suonato per i Southern Pacific dal 1983 al 1986.
Dopo il successo della prima edizione di "Elvis - The Concert " nell' agosto del 1997, Jerry e la TCB Band hanno girato tutto il mondo con questo spettacolare show, emozionando le platee dall' Europa all' Asia.
Oltre ad essere un musicista di talento, Jerry scrive anche canzoni. " Fire Down Below " e' forse la canzone piu' famosa e conosciuta fra i fans di Elvis.
Jerry Scheff ha tre figli: Jason, Darin, e Lauren Scheff. Jason Scheff e' il bassista del gruppo Chicago dal 1985; e' il co-autore della canzone "Bigger Than Elvis" come tributo a suo padre.
